Consider giving a gift to cats in need

At SOLAS, we aim to offer solace not just to animals but to the families and individuals who open their hearts to adopting them.

Just as solace brings relief and peace to those who seek it, SOLAS brings care, love, and healing to animals who deserve a second chance at happiness. We believe every life is precious, and our goal is to ensure that no animal is left without hope or a home.
We are proud to be a local organization making a tangible impact in our community. Supporting your local animal shelter, like SOLAS, helps provide essential resources, medical care, and a nurturing environment for countless animals in need. Together, we can make a lasting difference and continue creating stories of healing, love, and joy.
Join us in our mission. Whether through adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating, your support matters. Thank you for helping us spread solace to our furry friends!

Our History

Solas Rescue – In the beginning
Solas Rescue was incorporated in 1995 (then known as S.O.L.A.S.—Support Our Local Animal Shelter) to support the Council Bluffs Animal Shelter, which was severely lacking in resources and supplies.
Solas volunteers assisted at the shelter by providing hands-on help, supplying needed medications, and offering ongoing support. Over time, it became clear that some animals required more individualized care than the shelter could provide. This was especially true for vulnerable animals such as newborn kittens and puppies, pregnant animals, and those needing extra medical attention.
In response, Solas began developing a foster care program to ensure these animals could receive the specialized care they needed in a home environment. While today Solas focuses primarily on cats, the organization originally supported both dogs and cats alike.
