Who can volunteer with Solas?

Anyone! Volunteers are essential to our mission. We have volunteer opportunities for cat socialization, event assistance, fundraising coordination, and more. Our biggest need is always for more loving foster homes. Find out how to get involved on our Volunteer page:

What kind of items do you need donated?

Vet bills are our highest expense, so monetary gifts are always greatly appreciated. Our cats eat Purina products, such as Kitten and Cat Chow Naturals. We only use clumping cat litter, and any brand works (Although the name brands tend to control odor better than some cheaper ones)! We also use a lot of wet cat food, and any brand is wonderful! During the springtime, we have high needs for kitten items such as potty pads, kitten wet food, milk replacement, and miracle nipples (HIGH NEED). We can also take baby-sized blankets and small throw blankets. (We cannot accept large bedding due to washer size restrictions.) We are also always in need of cleaning items such as baby wipes, Lysol wipes, and pet stain remover. We can often accept new or gently used cat trees, scratchers, wire cages, or other cat furniture.

How do you determine if a pet is a good fit for my home?

We always consider both the pet’s needs and the adopter’s lifestyle to ensure the best match. This involves asking questions about your home, activity level, and prior experience with pets. A volunteer will contact you to discuss your daily family life and your comfort levels with pet training.

What are the adoption amounts and what do they cover?

What if an adopted pet doesn’t work out?

First, we will assist you by providing guidance from one of our professionals, as our primary hope is always to keep a pet in a loving home. If the pet’s placement still does not work, we will always accept the pet back. We ask that you contact us as soon as you have any difficulties, as the sooner we can help, the better. However, we do NOT offer refunds. Exchanges of a pet of the same age range will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Do you accept non-S.O.L.A.S. adopted animal surrenders?

We understand that the decision to rehome a pet is a personal one. We do our very best to assist everyone we can, but due to limited space, we are not able to accept nearly as many as we would like to. We can try to assist with other community resources if possible. Please do feel free to contact us, and we can provide whatever guidance we can.
