Our volunteers say that spending their time volunteering on behalf of rescue pets is one of the most meaningful things they can do.

We are in urgent need of volunteers to assist with maintenance, socialization, and adoption assistance of our cats at Humane Pet Services in Council Bluffs. We also have opportunities at adoption events in Omaha and Council Bluffs, as well as other fundraising events.

Volunteers like you are the heart and soul of everything we do here. Your time, care, and dedication make an incredible difference in the lives of animals who need it most. Each day, our volunteers bring comfort, companionship, and hope to our rescued animals, helping them feel safe and loved while they wait for their forever homes. Whether you’re feeding, playing, or simply sitting with them, your compassion leaves a lasting impact. Together, we’re building a brighter future for these animals—and we couldn’t do it without you!

Volunteers must be over 14 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Current Volunteer Roles Needed:

Vet Transporters

Help foster homes with busy schedules take and pick up pets needing vet care. This may include caring for pets for a short time.

Events Planner

Find new events and man our table at existing events. Be an expert on our needs and communicate them to the community.

Adoption Cat Care

Volunteer at Humane Pet Services in Council Bluffs. Cleaning and socializing our adoptable cats.

Foster Homes

Provide housing, care, and love for our adoptable cats. We can’t do it without our foster homes!

Video Creators

Help make content for our social media by using your video savviness at foster homes, Humane Pet Services and/or events.

Community Outreach

Connect with local businesses and online to ask for support and donations.
